gyno

Question Posted Sunday April 29 2007, 11:11 am

well last week i was having severe pains in my lower abdomain and the school nurse suggested it may be an ovarian cyst. i had been having all the sypmtoms of one for the past couple months, so my mom took me to a normal doctors. but since i was under 18, im 15, my mom had to come in with me. im going to a gyno wensday and its my first time. what im wondering is are all gynos like planned parenthood (everything you tell them is confidental & your parent doesnt have to come in). because i really want to be truthful with them but if my mom found out i was sexually active...yeah. also, what should i do/not do in order to prepare for it. thank you

when you go to the gyno, your mom doesnt have to come in. i've been to one and she wont come in if you dont want her too. just tell her you dont want to or dont feel comfortable and she will completely understand. but you might have to mention to the gyno not to tell your mom!
hope this was helpful

when you are in the examination room privately with your doctor what you say is confidential, so be honest so he/she can help you.

On a side note, being honest with your parents is a good idea too. It will save grief later but I totally understand your reluctance.

Two of my friends had gyno visits recently. Everything you tell them is completely confidential.

Well, when I went to my first appointment, she had my mom come in for a minute, but before she began to ask me anything personal about my sex life that I definitely would not want my mom to hear, she asked my mom if she could step out of the room for a minute or so. Then had my mom come back in, and then shut the curtain thing so my mom wouldn't see my goods. Don't think about it too much. =]
