if your dating than you dont have to spend money to say thank you. something sweet like a letter and a flower would be good.but if your jus friends thanid go with something that would last long like jewlery or find out what he really wants without making it obveous.

a nice watch.
a DVD or CD of their favorite movie / music. you can even burn CDs with their favorite songs - it shows that you care about them.
a nice polo or button - up shirt would be nice. or even plain cash :]
