i turned in an application on tuesday of this week at an icecream place, and i havent heard anything back yet. how long does it normally take to hear back if they are interested. im sure they will ask for an interview and if so what types of questions will they ask and what types of answers should i have. if i dont hear back from them in a certain amount of time am i supposed to call them? and if i am what do i say to them if i do? thanks so much!
For your interview, make sure you dress some-what nicely. No jeans or tennis shoes. No ridiculously short skirts. You get it. Again, it's important to be really polite. Whoever interviews you will most likely introduce themselves. When they do this, smile and shake their hand. If they offer you a chair to sit on, which I'm sure they will, say thank you.
They will ask you questions about your previous job experiences. When they ask these questions, it's important to be completely honest with them. They can call your old boss and check on everything you say, so don't lie or you'll for sure lose the job.
They will ask you questions about what work environments you prefer to work in, what hours you would be able to work, what kinds of people you work best with, etc. They WILL ask you how long you plan on working there. They ask this because they want to hire a reliable employee that they know won't quit in two weeks. Choose your answer wisely. Keep your answers short, sweet, and to the point. You don't want to babble on and on.
They will ask you what you would do in certain situations. For example, they might ask, "What would you do if your friends ask if they could get a free scoop of ice cream?" When answering questions like this, think of what would be best for the ice cream store. You obvious answer would be "To say 'No.'" It is possible that they will ask you why exactly you want to work there. When asked this, don't say something like "Because I need money and this looks like an easy job." DO say something like "I'm looking for a job that can teach me responsibility and I want to learn new things." Again, try to be honest, but not too honest. Understand?

When you call them, just say "Hello, I'm namehere and I applied at your shop about a week ago, and I was wondering if you guys have looked over my application yet?" And then they'll see that you're really interested, and they'll put your application at the top of the pile. If they offer you an interview, be sure to dress nice. Don't wear ripped up jeans, a hoodie & sneakers. Wear something nice. Don't wear something you'd wear to a funeral, but maybe something in between. Not too fancy, but not too casual either. When you get there for the interview, make sure you're on time, & when you meet them, shake their hand & tell them you're nice to meet them. Always smile, and give the best answers you can. They're gonna ask questions like "What made you interested in working here?" or "What skills & differences do you think you'll be able to bring to the company?" Stuff like that. Give them a whole hearted answer, but don't make it last forever. Sometimes your answers need to be short & to the point. Good luck. =) [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]

I they don't call you in 1-2 weeks it means they aren't going to hire you. When it comes to jobs it's a situation of waiting and seeing and not calling them unless they call you with an offer.
When it comes to questions they will want to discuss any other job or leadership position you've had, strengths and weaknesses and whether you are a team player or not. They will ask about your interests and try to guage whether you are outgoing or not.
In the meantime get out to the move theatre, bookstore and other places such as fast-food places and see if you get any offers rather than just waiting on this one thing that may not happen for you.
If you just put your application in on Tuesday you cannot expect anyone to have looked it over yet. Give it 1-2 weeks but keep looking during this time period so you have many potential offers and can choose the best. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]
