Loosing method

Question Posted Monday April 23 2007, 10:20 pm

Well I am trying to loose weight so I will be thinner so I look good for cheerleading next year but I do not know if I am doing it in the right way or not here is basically what Im doing I eat half a bagel in the morning with a little cream cheese that is reduced fat, then I drink water at school for lunch because Im never real hungry because it is at 10a.m. then for dinner I eat a tiny bit of food so my mom thinks I am eating still because she gets mad at me when I say I want to loose weight but I need to because I am 5'5" and I weight like 135ish. I have lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks is that too much or is that good?

you need to eat at least 3 times a day..and your only eating two meals..
what you really need to do is eat three balanced meals a day. cut out junkfood, and excersise. loosing 16lbs that quickly can really hurt you in the end, cuz when you start eating again, it WILL pack back on again.

if you want to know more, send a message in my inbox..anything you want to know, i will probably know..

Hello.

I can see why your mom may be concerned. I'm guessing you are still pretty young and to be honest your body does need food - more so when you start cheerleading becuase that will take its toll on your body.

The most basic rule to remember when loosing weight *safely* is it's not how much you eat it's WHAT you eat. Eating less to the point your hardly eating much will only do damage to your body.

Firstly, breakfast is a very important meal - you should have a proper full meal. One full bagel with low fat cream cheese is a very good choice but also add to that something like a smoothie or a fruit juice drink (I drink freshly squeezed orange or make a smoothie - whichever I can really bother with, hehe). At lunch time I have sandwiches with tuna and a drink. Tuna doesn't taste awesome but it's filling as well as low in fat so it serves my diet really well. After this there is obviously dinner where again, I have a FULL meal which will include something healthy (i.e. not fried) as well as a portion of vegetables.

Although this seems like a lot it actually works really well for me and I'm actually limited on what I can do when it comes to physical exercise because of an accident. The above diet is what works for me personally so I am NOT saying you should copy it but you do need to eat. I stopped sodas, alcohol, chocolate and take aways (apart from once a week on the weekends when I get home too late to make something to eat). When I feel pecky and need a snack or have the urge for something sweet I have a bag of grapes next to me to nibble on. We have bananas, peaches, apples etc so whenever I feel a little hungry between meals I have one of those to eat. I eat healthy but I still am able to control my diet.

Since your age would be a major factor when it comes to dieting I would suggest that you seek advice from a professional dietician who can advise you on what kind of diet to do safely so you are having the maximum effect but still keeping yourself healthy. Although I am no professional I'd have to say the diet you are on currently seems very unhealthy because you are hardly eating much at all.

Umm, 16 pounds is a lot of weight lost. But less weight doesn't necessarily mean that you're skinnier. You should exercise insead of starving yourself to death. It's not good for you, and your body will force you to start eating more. Once you start eating more, you'll eat more than you ever have normally. In time you'll just end up gaining more weight and fat. Something we all don't want unless we're aiming for pro sumo wrestling.

Running or swimming are good cardiovascular exercises that helps burn calories and such. You might want to do swimming since you'll gain lean muscle (not bulky muscle) which will make you gain some weight, but not get you fat. Running on the other hand will make your legs bigger. It is much easier to do though, and you can run pretty much anywhere.

Well hopefully I convinced you not to starve yourself to death, or else you'll stun your growth and probably stay within that 5'5" range. Just drink a lot of cold water. Your body will automatically burn calories by warming up the cold water.

That's about everything I want to say. But if you really insist on starving yourself to death, then I won't stop you.
