is there a way to keep a program, example google talk,
running without wasting energy? like when i go on stand
by, the program shuts down. & obviously the same
with shutting down.
i'm talking about during the night - the times when i'm
not at the computerr?
ammo answered Saturday April 21 2007, 12:55 am: I've never actually used stand by before because I've always thought it to be pretty useless since it shuts everything down anyway (inclusing my net connection) and is something I'd love to use when downloading large files overnight (pretty much for same reason as you - so it takes up less energy).
I'm afraid as far as I know though there isn't unless someone can correct me and there is a way. I usually shut down as much as I can, leave my MSN/download running and then log out (Note: log out NOT shut down - with logging out everything will still be running) and then turn off my monitor. I would imagine that saves on a little. [ ammo's advice column | Ask ammo A Question ]
