yeah, be careful, you`ll get crazy bad split ends with a $30 straightener bcs it is not going to be ceramic. even with a pricey ceramic, you need heat control. i use v05 make it straight! it`s a heat protection straightening gel.

it really depends on what your hair is like. i have been straightening my hair for 2 years now, and it has never damaged my hair, and i put nothing in it. i just do it like 3 times a week, so that might make a difference on how many times you do it in a week. you can try to starighten it for a week, and see how your hair looks. if it is dry, then you should put products in your hair to protect it. i would recomed it, because i staightened my friends hair, and it totally dried out. i would suggest to put in stuff though. here is a product that is only 4$, but works really well:

you could also try straightening it with products.

you could also just go to ulta.com and look around there for stuff you think you would like

(this brings you to the hair care part of the website)

hope that helpes and good luck!!! :-D

You don't have to use a spray, but it's good to put a serum in your hair before you straighten it.
I would suggest the Protect & Shine Serum by K-PAK. It makes your hair really soft and it smells like coconuts :] I wouldn't put it directly on your roots thogh, because it might make them look greasy. Just put a little dot of it in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and spread it throughout your hair focusing on your ends. Hope I helped!!

If you use a straightener often, or you hold your straightener on your hair too long, or it is too hot, your hair can become extremely heat damaged.

I believe the spray your mom is talking about is a thermal protectant. I didn't used to use one, until my hairdresser told me this: "If you only use one product for the rest of your life, use a heat protectant". It's that important. Now, if you use your straightener a little bit, chances are nothing will happen. But my advice is to get heat protecting spray as soon as possible.

There is one type of spray. There are many other brands out there, lots are on folica.com.

Good Luck =)

Yeah, It will damage it. Only if you use it every day, and over and over and over again.
Without a product, I wouldn't use it everyday. I mean, I use it every day without a product, and it is kinda damaging my hair =/
I would get one. And always listen to your mom. They know more then you =D
