Refined basically means cultured, elegant, and well-mannered. It also means having good manners and being polite. Sorta like basic etiquette.

Refined is an adjective that can mean a few things. The first is elegant, cultured in apperance and mannerisms or taste or it can mean to be precise or subtle.
It can also refer to unwanted things or impurities being removed from something ie: refining a piece of writing or a musical arrangement for instance.
