Okay, so I am fifteen and I am about to turn sixteen towards the end of the month. I am just wondering, what is it about turning sixteen that girls are really excited about? You know, like, they throw really huge parties and stuff like that.... Please do explain to me what turning sixteen signifies.

Traditionally, this sort of merriment focused on girls, but today, the celebration has become quite popular for boys as well. This is also the time in ones’ life where first cars are bought and driven after obtaining a learner’s permit.
I know that when i turned sixteen i was excited about driving, working better jobs, and being treated more like an adult rather than a child.

angNICOLE answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 9:05 am: well, most people really look forward to turning sixteen because well.. they can drive!!! i know it might not sound like much, but, driving on your own really can symbolize a feeling of freedom; not always depending on other people, (parents, most likely), for something that we use daily-transportation. my sixteenth birthday was really really fun. i actually ended up getting over a thousand dollars worth of stuff for that birthday.. more than any other birthday before. dont feel pressured to have this amazing, expensive party though... sweet sixteens are just something that a lot of people like to celebrate a little more than the other birthdays; just a thing for fun, basically. !
