singing in my talent show!!!!! i have this talent show coming up and im not sure what to do for my audition. we have to make it using a video, and send it to this guy.. and then i guess they just see what your gonna do, i dont know. this is my first show, since im 13 in 7th grade. (i'm a girl btw) I have no idea what song i wanna sing!!! for the audition AND the show. can you guys give me some tips and pointers on what i should wear when i make the video audition thingy and what songs i should sing that would really show off my voice? um i dont know how to describe my voice either. i guess kinda like mariah carey/beyonce but i cant get those really high notes (well i can sing Deja vu by beyonce well but idk if it really shows off my voice either.) some songs i've already thought of singing were "smile" by charlie chaplin, "deja vu" by beyonce, "downtown" by petula clark, "fly lik e a bird" by Mariah Carey (I couldnt get the really high notes in that one).. umm etc. pick a really good song.. thats just really good, lol. i dont care if its old, the oldies are goldies as they say.
THANKS alot!!!!!!!!!!1

Ok, if you like a country i know the perfect song that doesnt go that high. Trust me, ive sang it before, and im in the middle between and Alto and Soprano. Well try Carrie Underwood, the song "Wasted", or the song "Jesus Take the Wheel". Those would be perfect for an Alto(im guessing you r). So try them, if you dont like them, im guessing you should sing Deja Vu, by Beyonce, it will show off any voice.
P.S. I already read the part where you think it doesnt show off your voice, but i dont think i have that great of a voice and i got the crowd going with that one. ]
well since you say your an alto and all that haha,,, the songs i recamended in the first place below should be good----haha GOOD LUCK
i recamend that you wear something confident but not slutty,
i do agree with the other columnist when they said that you should sing something your comfortable with....
make sure its a song you can sing well, and get someone who's actually heard you sing opinion on the song you choose....
some good old songs that show off unique vocal are "who's loving you" by the jackson five, "Band of Gold" by Freda Payne, "Bang Bang" by Nancy Sinatra------
it all pretty much depends on if your a soprano, alto, baratone, etc.
if you figure out which one you are let me know and i could probably recamend some songs that would suite your type of voice ]
Sing a song that your comfortable singing, and don't try to impress anyone, do it for you. As for clothes, do something fairly casual, but a step up from jeans and a t-shirt. Good luck with your show, i'm sure you'll do great!! ]
