um pads just like tampons and lots of other things take time to get used to.... if you are expecting it just get liners first but if you are not into tampons which i suggest because there is less of a worrie about leaking or something... but ya your ok you will just have to get used to the feeling... and if your "first" period comes out blackish or like clotted you have nothing to worry about .... and also dont worry if at first you dont get it regularly.... well i wish you luck and if you need someone to go to the drug store to get feminan products dont be afraid to ts not like he doesnt know its comming.... and dont feel bad if you are embaressed to go buy your feminan needs i have had mine for a year and i still cant. sorry if this is long i just gave you all the advice i could!

Hey. Absolutely it is! I remember when I first got my period last year when I was 12, I wore a pad and was like "mom I feel like a duck cause this thing makes me waddle!" Practicing is actually pretty smart so you can be used to them when your period rolls around. Even though there big, that's good because they offer better protection from leakage. Try out different brands and sizes. Panty liners are generally for light days and they range from that to maxi pads for extremely heavy flows. If you still find that you do not like the pads, tampons are also an option. As for what to know, when you first get your period it will be VERY irregular so dont panic if it lasts for a very long time, ends quickly, or comes one month then skips a few others. Girls are generally not regular for at least a year. If you are into sports especially running, your period may stop during the season but thats normal so don't panic. Many girls get cramps with their periods some lucky girls get light ones other unlucky girls (myself included!) get kind of bad ones. Heating pads are excellent. Motrin works well also. Many people will tell you a warm bath is good but when you have yohr period, it isn't sanitary to take a bath. Make sure you change your pads often and especially tampons. Never sleep with a tampon in to avoid toxic shock syndrome (extremely rare disease from wearing a tampon over eight hours) dont panic this is VERY VERY rare. Try to take a shower every night on your period to keep that area clean. If you have any other questions feel free to ask! ♥ fabulous

Well, you don't need that thick of a pad yet because for one, your period hasn't even come, and it won't be all that heavy since it'll be your first one. Pads will be uncomfortable & hard to get used to the first time you wear them, but I'd get like the ultra thin pantiliners. You can barely feel those because they're like paper thin.

As for more about your period, it's basically when you shed your utures[sp?] lining, and you just bleed a lot & get horrible cramps. You crave chocolate like crazy [don't give in though, it'll make your cramps worse] and you won't feel like going anywhere because you'll be so uncomfortable. Just tell your dad though because you're gonna have to tell him about your boyfriends and your friends and your bra if you're not wearing one already.

Aww i hate pads. They feel very uncomfortable for me as well. That's why you should wear tampons they are completely comfortable and easy to put in and take out. But thats just me. Hmmm...well periods aren't fun but everyones different. You may expirence terriable pain. When i have mine I always take tylonal everyday once a day so it wont hurt. You do get very emotional and cry easily. But hey everyones different.

Hope I Helped :)

Yeah they feel like nappies at first :( But you get used to it, when you get your period you might find you will need to change the type of pad you buy to suit your flow needs, when you first start it might be a good idea to buy those multi-absorption packs... so you get some of each absoption levels as they can change from heavy to light and you never quite know what to expect for the first two years =|! But when you get used to them you can always try using tampons which may suit your needs better (if you are quite sporty, hate the feel of pads, etc) However tampons can take alot longer to get used to... but once you do its worth it :)
Anyway you're only 13, its a good idea to be prepared but you may be lucky enough to not get your first period for another two years or so! So don't worry about it too much until your time comes :)
Look at pad brand name and tampon brand name websites for help and advice, there's usually some good advice on there too!
Help this helped :)

Well it takes a while to get used to and I have to say I am never comfortable in pads but I rather those then tampons. Its okay, don't worry. Anything you need to know about your period? Count 28 days from the first day of the one you last had and remember the date. Then a few days earlier before you might get it again, start wearing pads in case you get it early so it doesn't leak or anything. :)
