calories and gum... i was thinking....hmmm...since the brand of gum i chew only has like 5 or less calories in it and actually chewing the gum is a relatively physical action, do i burn the calories of the gum by actually chewing it???

If you chew each piece of gum long enough, it's very likely that you'll actually be losing calories. However, the amount of calories that you lose is trivial. You'd lose MUCH more if you simply took a walk. If you chew until your jaw gets a bit sore, it might have a nice effect of VERY slowly giving you a more defined jawline. However, chewing gum is definitely NOT a way to lose weight. If it was, we'd be telling people to just go buy a pack of Juicy Fruit instead of recommending that they go take a jog. ]
hey
you probably burn more calories chewing it than it has to begin with... which is a good thing :]
it depends also on if youre in school or not. cause in my school, we're not allowed to chew gum. but everyone does anyway. so we just keep it on the side of our mouth till the teacher turns around and then we start chewing. so, if you have a piece of gum in school all day, and considering your school rules prohibit gum-chewing, then you burn a lot less calories than if you were freely chewing the gum and not concious of who is watching you chew it.
i hope i helped! :] ]
