I'm going on birth control because my cramps come from hell and my period lasts almost 2 weeks.
What are the side effects?
I heard it clears up your acne/or makes it worse and that you gain weight?

I've never had a lot though. But when I first started using it I DID gain about five pounds. I've lost them now though, because I watch what I eat, unlike I did before I was on birth control. But, it really all depends on the person. Some people don't gain weight, some do, some will stay the same. Some peoples skin clears up, some don't, some gets worse. No one can tell you exactly what effects birth control will have on YOUR body. Hope this helps.
FrEe2bMe answered Tuesday March 20 2007, 11:14 pm: Different types of birth control will have different effects and of course effects will vary from person to person. Birth control will help regulate your period, reduce it's length most likely, and lighten your flow. In addition, birth control because it deals with your hormone levels is said to help clear up acne. Sometimes a slight weight gain can occur, but it's only about 5 pounds usually and you can easily manage this. You may experience tenderness or soreness of the breasts and mild cramping at first. Consulting with your doctor will help choose which type is best for you. A highly used BC is Ortho Tri Cyclen--it is commonly prescribed t young teens to clear up acne and has mild side effects. :) [ FrEe2bMe's advice column | Ask FrEe2bMe A Question ]
