Trouble sleeping...

Question Posted Sunday March 18 2007, 10:29 pm

I remember hearing somewhere that there are some foods that can help you fall asleep if you eat them before bed. What are they?Besides food, what are some other methods of falling asleep quickly other than sleeping pills?

Also,it seems like no matter how early I go to bed I'm always sleepy throughout the day.How can I fix this?

I totally agree you need exercise daily to sleep at night. I use a stairclimber or go to the gym daily. Chamomile tea sweetened with honey helps me sleep. Also try hot cocoa ,make sure it's not caffeinated, green tea, sleepyime hot tea, avoid caffeine during the day.
Many people say that warm turkey helps you sleep cause it has triptophene. Think about how tired you are after Thanksgiving dinner.

I know foods like turkey make you sleepy, but I couldn't suggest anything else.

- I've discovered that simply having a more active/busy day helps. The job I'm at now involves a lot of thinking, so by the time I get home, I'm ready to crash.

- I suggest not sitting around all day (if you that's the case.) Include some exercise into your morning. Believe it or not, exercising in the morning is actually recommended as opposed to @ night. You're actually more alert & have more energy afterwords. So stick to a 30 minute work out in the morning to help you feel energized throughout the day.

- After you're done exercising, take a cold shower.

- Change your diet. It's possible you aren't getting the right nutrients & your eating habits can be affecting your sleep.

- Quit all caffeine drinks. I really didn't think my ONE soda a day affected my bedtime to be 4am. But when I quit for awhile & was tired atleast 4 hours earlier.

- Lay in bed & give yourself some time to fall asleep @ a decent time. In the meantime, watching tv, reading a book, or listening to soft music should help.

this is a tough one, because i get this to! but, this is what helped for me....

1. Try taking a hot bath before bed. it will get you all mellow

2. Try drinking hot milk

3. try excersizing during the say so that your tired by the time you get to sleep.

4. make sure that you are comftorble when your sleeping, because if your not sleeping well then you will be tired when you wake up.

5. Make sure the temperatire in your room isnt to cold because you will be un-comftorble.

6. a half hour before your ready for bed, play some soothing music and stretch out and meditate and then youll be in a good mood for sleeping.

7. wake-up 10 minutes before you need to up and take a cold shower. it will wake you up so that your not tired throughout the day.

xo
