whats step two

Question Posted Monday March 12 2007, 11:11 pm

I know the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. So i've covered step one but I don't know what to do now. I have a problem with depression which results in hurting myself and I don't know what to do to stop being sad and stop all of this. What do I do besides go to a phyciatrist or the school counciler. Please i really don't have anywhere to turn.

Well you've admitted you have a problem and that's good. Step two would probably be a personal thing. Maybe re search about it on the internet what you should do...or do something that makes you feel better. Do things you love and not let depression get you down.

Recovering from depression isn't always a "one-size-fits-all" program, and at some point you won't need steps. You'll find your way out of it. You don't have to go to a psychiatrist or counsellor, but at least call one of the free anonymous helplines (usually counselling centers have lists of the available centers, or you can check online for your area) because talking about the problem is a good step two. Beyond that, I can tell you that I changed my diet, got more exercise and fresh air, and then found a few new friends who made me smile. It's always personal, but find something that makes you happy and hold on to it! Good luck with everything... I hope it all turns out well for you

Hey i really want to help you out. Today in health class we watched a movie about depression..and I never relized how serious depression is until i watched that video. Step 2 is going to see a doctor or psciatrist to talk about your problems. But also you need to realize who you care about and how they would feel if you died. A girl in the video who was dealing with depression said that she didn't think anyones else opinion mattered only hers because she had to live the way she did and deal with the depression and she hated it so much that she wanted to end her life. Think of all the people who care so much about you. I know i have no idea how it feels to be in your spot right now and im SOOOO glad that your trying to get help and fix your problem so you can live a happy life. Try talking to someone though and explain to them about your depression so they can find you a medication that is right for your kind of depression that will make you not feel so depressed. After the girl from movie was done talking about the stages she went through she told us about how not killing herself was the best thing she ever did.. and how life is so beautiful and how everyone is so blessed to have life. I mean think about it you only have so much time on earth..take advantage of it. Live life to the fullest. I hope i helped hun. If you dont feel compfortable talking to you phyciatrist talk to your friends or your family. I suggest getting a journal and writing out how you feel to. It helps you beable to sort out your emotions. If you ever need help with anything im here for you. Just leave a message in my inbox and ill give you the best advice i can. Feel better hun.
