mitzi answered Saturday March 3 2007, 4:20 pm: I lived in Norfolk Virginia as a child. there were all different types of people of all skin colors, religious beliefs, is was racially and culturally diverse. There was always something to do and a variety of foods. We had public transpertation and shopping malls.
then my parents moved to a small town in Utah. Every one was white and Mormon. All the girls wore long frilly dresses. Caffeine was against their religious beliefs. They were "good girls" I couldn't wait to get out of there. There were no shopping malls or public transpertation. No place for teens to gather. To me that was culture shock.
A better example would be for an American woman to go to Saudia Arabia where she has no rights and is treated like property. In America a woman needs to know one word when it comes to divorce and that word is half. There is no such thing as community property in Saudia Arabia. In America a woman can go whrere she wants when she wants not the same in Saudia Arabia.
When an American woman goes to Saudia Arabia she would experience culture shock. [ mitzi's advice column | Ask mitzi A Question ]
