Much of their early success was based on the lesbian image portrayed by Katina and Volkova, and the scandalous antics that surrounded it. However, in December 2003, it became apparent on their reality show Anatomy of t.A.T.u. that their sexuality was just part of the group's image at the time, and that they were not actually lesbians
so no they are not lesbians.
The name comes from a collocation of "ta" (this female) and "tu" (that female) from the Russian language.

Well I googled what T.A.T.U stands for and it stands for Teens against Tobacco Use so...according to that definition no not necessarily they are all lesbians. But it also stands for That girl loves that girl so maybe... it depends on your definition

Yes they are.
TATU means "This one, That one." I also found somewhere just now that it stands for Teens Against Tobacco Use, however I don't know how true that is.
