How can I show a guy that I like him without being too obvious?? Because I think he may like me, but I don't want to get turned down incase he doesn't

I was in a similar position a short time ago. I was pretty much in love with this guy who I thought liked me- and so I asked him out. And he said yes!
This is what I did- i called him and I asked him to go and see a movie with me.
He didn't call me ever again- but hey! it was worth a try.
it was mainly because of how busy he was with his IB program in school.

guys arre very strange because i told this one guy that i like him and he basically said he didnt want a gf so i was ok with it. but then he started being too nice....as in "i like you nice" so i thought that he mite like me. later i found out he didnt because he told me. and then it really hurt. after things got all flirty again and again he said he didnt like me...but i am so confused as to whether he does or doesnt. its like he canges his mind or something..idk...my best advice would be to find out if he likes you before you start liking him too much...have a friend ask him or something (or better yet if you r friends with one of his friends then that person could ask him "so do you like anyone??" or "it seems like you kinda like ______" and that would be not so obvious..hope i helped =)
