Addicted

Question Posted Wednesday February 28 2007, 4:26 pm

Hey. Well, I'm 13, if that will help.

So I have a screenname[AIM] and a myspace and stuff, and I'm absolutely addicted. More to AIM then to myspace, though. I go on AIM every single day, no matter where I am or who I'm with. I go on it for atleast an hour and a half and if it were up to me, I'd never get off.

So, my question is, is there any way I can like less addict myself to the computer, is it a phase?

Thankss

Lol, I think a lot of people our age are addicted to the computer but it's more of an addiction than a phase. It's a proven fact that it takes 30 days to start a habbit so it also takes 30 days to end one. What you really want to do (if you want to go on less) is stay off the computer for about that amount of time. I guess you can go on for like 15 minutes but that might not help with your "recovery" lol, since once you're on you may want to stay on longer. If you stay off for about this amount of time it will become so routine not to go on that you won't even want to as much or maybe just occasionally. You just have to really stick with it and it should help. I've tried it and it really helps so to less addict yourself this is really all you can do. Also, try keeping yourself busy by being with your boyfriend in person a lot, hanging out with friends a lot, or being with your family a lot. This will keep your mind off of the computer. I really hope this helped and good luck! =)

lol i'm the same way; if i have nothign to do i'm on the computer or just go on to talk to my boyfriend instead of claling eachother we talk on here which is pretty gayy but w.e hahah

to make yourself less addicted you should get out of the house and maybe go to the mall or the movies or something. or when you hang out with your friends; you could go for a walk instead of being in the house. maybe watch tv? but usually that never works for me because i'd rather be on here. but there are some suggestions so good luck!
