love handles / mid-section

Question Posted Sunday February 18 2007, 12:46 pm

I'd like to lose a few pounds, mostly my love handles and lower tummy. I've already cut soda pop/junk food/ice cream/candy/fast food out of my diet. What excercises can I do that will target these areas and get rid of my love handles? And PLEASE tell me ones that you KNOW for SURE will work from personal experience, because I've already tried a lot of the things that people on here have said and they don't work.

Weight loss will shrink the love handles without you really targeting that section of the body. More cardio; even better eating.

Now you have to understand that what works for me might not necessarily work for you. Just because I am a trainer doesn't mean I can guarantee results because everyone's body is different. I don't train my midsection very much because I rely on compound movements to strengthen my core. In my own experience; Weighted and unweighted Side bends and Oblique twists have worked best for me.

Speaking as somebody who has a good amount of time in under the bar- you're too obsessed with one section of your body and not looking at the big picture. That coupled with the wrong exercising is what is inhibiting your results. You're not going anywhere until your mind adjusts and says "I want my whole body and health to improve." and not just your midsection. If you want to look good then you have to train good and that means working your whole body.
