Heel stretch

Question Posted Monday February 5 2007, 10:00 pm

I do competition cheerleading, and I really want to get a good heel stretch! Heres a picture of one:

I at least want my leg to go like the girl in the second picture. Like when I try to unbend my leg it hurts so I have to stop. Are there any stretchs or things I can do to get my leg to go up? Also, eventually how could I get my leg as straight as that girl in the first picture's?

I'm not sure if you put the pictures in the right order, because it looks like the first picture has a better extension than in the second. Anyways, I just recommend sitting in a split. Lean forward and get your body as close to your leg and you can get. Then lean back as far as you can. Remember to keep your knees down and point your toes. If you had access to a ballet barre, that would also be a good idea to help with stretching. All you can really do is keep practicing and remember to stretch EVERY night.
