this is driving me crazy because everyone i know is giving me different answers, but did they raise minimum wage or not? im in georgia if it makes a difference.
linkinpark0651 answered Sunday February 4 2007, 3:58 pm: Nope, the House and Senate are currently working on it.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007 on 10 January 2007 and the U.S. Senate passed its version on 1 February 2007, calling for a gradual increase in the minimum wage to $7.25 per hour by 11 March 2009. (The two bills must be reconciled in committees before being sent to the President.) If signed by President Bush, the first increase will take place 11 March 2007, to $5.85.
This is kind of off topic, but raising the minimum wage really doesn't do anything. Minimum wage employers have to pay their employees more, therefore, more people get laid off. Retail stores charge more for their products (things like grocery prices will go up), making people pay more sales tax (not necessarily percentage wise).
