Not a stupid question. The genders are a little different...
Girl's tend to prefer being called beautiful or pretty over sexy or hot. Guys, on the other hand, can swing either way. Handsome is good, but so are all the other compliments.

Hey. There's no such thing as a stupid question =). But I think handsomes not bad but that nowadays guys would prefer hot, sexy (as like a flirt) or good looking. But handsomes definitely a nice compliment too! It really depends on the guy. I really hope this helped! =)
