working out and getting hungrier

Question Posted Wednesday January 31 2007, 9:34 pm

For the past month I've been running/excrising and I usually don't. But then just within the past few weeks it seems like I've been eating a ton. It seems like I'm always hungry even after an hour or so after I eat. And I just feel like after i run it all off i eat it all on. is that normal for me to be eating more since i'm working out more? and is there someway to "curve" or "getting ride" of eating so much.

Make sure that you're not hungry before you exercise, otherwise you'll get really hungry afterwards. (That said, don't go exercising right after a big meal either.)

Also, choose your food carefully. Don't eat too much sugary food because you become hungry again soon after you eat. Complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread or pasta will keep you full for longer. Fruit is also a good snack, but it might not be enough for you. Eat slowly so that you feel more full.

yes its normal because since you've started running you're burning calories and energy so you need more food. thats why a lot of really athletic people can eat like cows and not really gain any weight.
