Saving .GIFs as .GIFs?

Question Posted Wednesday January 31 2007, 12:20 pm

If I ever come across a moving .GIF image on the internet, I might try to right click to save it. When I click "Save Picture As", it only offers to save as a .BMP, which terminates the moving animation. Does anyone know how to fix that?

(Even after the first three answers, the problem isn't solved. :/) But let me say it again, "When I click 'Save Picture As', it only offers to save as a .BMP" To clarify: I know to click downward to save as some other form, BUT no other form is available. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Some older systems and some browsers can't support GIF files. Try downloading a different browser like opera:

Send me a private question with as much information as you can on your system, your browser, what websites it occurs on, if it always had this problem, and any other information. Also include screenshots of it.

go to start>my computer then click tools>folder options. Go to view tab. Under advanced settings UNcheck "hide extensions for known file types". Now, next time you save a file, even though it will say under file type that you're saving as a bmp, you MANUALLY change the filename.bmp to filename.gif. Also, after you have downloaded the file, you can rename it from filename.bmp to filename.gif and it will work(no matter what you name it it's still the same 1s and 0s). Note that this wont let you *convert* a file that is originally a bmp(or any other file) to a gif.

Pretty much what the person below me said. When you click on it to save it, change the extension .BMP to .GIF. This keeps the animation.

I apoligize for not reading your question correctly. But that's what I thought you meant, so I misunderstood. =[

I'm thinking of suggestions so I will probably come up with an alternative answer soon. Thanks for your feedback.

-Right click on the image
-Click on Save Picture As..
-Go to Save as type
-Change it from .BMP to .GIF
-Save it!

Sorry if it that was confusing.
