ok well the best way to get into shape is to do little sprints dont run like 3 miles, because for soccer it has been proven that little sprints are better for you.
For some skills you will probably need to have a good first touch or a decent one (like accros your body) being able to pass and just the simple stuff.
Well some good tricks are like the step over or the revolino (sp) or just like faking the person out.
Some good ways to pratice is to maybe go to an empty feild with somone and then chip the ball to eachother to make your kick stronger, take eachother one on one and pratice your tricks, and just do sprints.
Goodluck on making the team =) ]
I agree with the previous post but I would stress even more the endurance part. Run, everyday, run more, run run run.
it being the Junior varsity if you can demonstrate basic skill and have endurance you will look good, just practice a little with basic ball control enough to not look clumsy and run your butt off.
when tryouts start and the coach makes you run, lead the pack so that he/she notices you. ]
right now, what you really need are endurance and touches. i suggest you start running. A LOT. at this age, full games are 90 minutes. you should start doing touches. juggle, on your feet, not your thighs, practice dribbling, and try a few moves. (scizzors, step-overs, etc.) also, another good thing to try is ladders for speed and agility. you get a rope ladder, and you run through putting one foot in each rung without tripping/kicking the ladder as fast as you can. then try this with two feet in each rung. another good thing to do is set a cone about 3-5 yards from the end of the ladder that you come out of, and when you are through the ladder, run as fast as you can to the cone. most importantly, decide whether you would like to play defense or offense, and train yourself for it. ask someone to practice with you and decide what position you would like to play. practice kicking the ball far and acurate. also practice throw ins. i think thats all you need to know for now. hope this helped. ]
