Is it bad if you straighten your hair with a curling iron?
I know it seems weird, but my hair isn't that straight around my bangs and towards the bottom of my hair. If this helps, my curling iron is made of metal. It's not that good, because i've had it for a while.
so my question is if using my curling iron as a straightener is going to be ok? will it damage my hair? if so, how much? is this safe?
illdomybest answered Sunday January 28 2007, 12:24 am: its not going to be anydiffrent then it would be using a straightener or curling iron to curl your hair. the diffence would be the results a straighter might work better but ive used a curling iron to straighten hair just because i didnt want to heat up my straightener when my curler was already hot and didnt really have time.
its not going to do anymore damage then what a straightener or curling it would. its ok. and no your hair is not going to fall out from using it every day nomatter how much someone might mislead you to believe. [ illdomybest's advice column | Ask illdomybest A Question ]

varsity_prep_xo answered Saturday January 27 2007, 11:09 pm: in a pinch, this would be okay.. but if you're going to be doing in everyday get a ceramic straightener, because metal will damage hair... it can fry your hair easier than ceramic irons and it can give your split ends. in order to recover from this damage your hair will either have to be trimmed at least every 3 weeks/or for bruning hair you'll have to wait until the hair grows out.
the best straightener out there that lasts the longest and is the best for your hair is called a chi and goes for about 200 dollars, but if you're going to be straightening every day, i would reccommend it. [ varsity_prep_xo's advice column | Ask varsity_prep_xo A Question ]
