belly button ring

Question Posted Saturday January 27 2007, 7:27 pm

I recently got my belly button repierced, and it was pierced with a standard implant grade surgical stainless steel barbell. I was wondering if there was a differece between a belly button ring you would buy somewhere, and the particular barbells you get pierced with. I tried to take the top ball off the change only the ball, but couldnt get it off..I wasnt sure if there was something different about the starter barbell..thank you!

If you haven't figured it out yet [which i'm sure you have] the barbell most likely twists off at the bottom.

When they put the barbell in, they have on rubber gloves for safety/sterile purposes. Here is the kicker- rubber gloves give a better grip on the steel.

It may be that they screwed it on tighter than you would normally be able to get it bare handed. Try to get a pair of rubber gloves and wear them to remove it. It may just solve your problem.

Or you can go in to where you had it done, have them remove the bead and allow you to tighten with your bare hands to make it easier for you to remove.

P.S. You can go into any place of business where they use them for their work and ask for a pair of gloves. Doctor's office, Dentist office, health department, and so on.

This happened to me. I thought i had lost my mind. I twisted it to the left one day the bottom part and it cam a part. Its weird. Because the ones they pierce it with twists backwards.

Hi. Theres 2 different types of barbells. One of them have balls that you have to have a special tool to change, and the other type you can just twist the ball off. When your healing period is up, just go back to where you got it pierced at and they will be able to change it for you. :] Good Luck.
