Chapped lips

Question Posted Saturday January 20 2007, 12:55 am

I get chappd lips a lot. I use lipgloss/moisturizer.

And lately.. when my lips are dry.. the dried parts ..are kinda purple. It looks like my lips are bruised.

What is with that?

Lay off the lipgloss & moisturizer for a week or two. This happened to my friend too.. so she went to the dermotoligist. He said; because she was using products to giver her lips mostiure, her body stopped providing it's own. You lips need to start producing their own moisture. Rub some vasaline on your lips before bed, but I wouldn't do anything else (for now).

If your lips are unnaturally dry and you can't seem to fix it with Chap Stick or any others than see a doctor to be safe

I think you get purplish lips due to insufficient blood flow to those dried parts. Insufficient blood flow means less nutrients and less water supplied to those parts.

Make sure you drink more water. Keep yourself hydrated and put lip balm constantly.

Stay away from air conditioned rooms as they tend to make not only your lips dry but your face dry as well.

This just happens to certain people. Mine ppeel sometimes and when they do i have a tendency to bite them. I started using vaseline on my lips because it lasts longer than a lip balm or chapstick does.
