BO friend.

Question Posted Friday January 19 2007, 6:26 pm

One of my friends has really bad body odor.
Its so bad, even our teachers complain about
it when they walk into the classroom. My friends
and I have tried to drop hints like 'Oh I just
got this great new deorderant you should try!'
'What kind do you use?' We've even bought
her perfume, which hasn't helped.
She's sensitive, so we're not sure how to
tell her she stinks. When we say something
smells bad, she just brushes it off by saying
"I don't smell anything"

.. What should we try?

Listen, I know this sounds repetitive, but it's really true. You're going to have to tell her straight up. There's no easy way to go about this, but there are many different ways to approach her, for instance, "_______, you're a really great person, but our bodies are growing and I hate to break it to you, but I think we need to work harder on our personal hygeine." Then just go from there, explaining how people feel, etc. Also, you should either do it alone or with one of her really good friends, because she'll just feel humiliated if you say something like that in front of a bunch of people.

I WAS that girl back in Middle School, and there's no easy way to take it. I denied it and all, but deep down I knew I had to do something about it, and I did. Yes, I was angry at the few friends that said something about it, but eventually I knew that they were trying to help; that they didn't want me to be embarrassed or made fun of behind my back.

It's tough, but gather the courage with a friend to tell her. Break it to her softly, but make sure she knows that she might have a problem.

is there a reason that she stinks, can she afford to take bath and wash clothes? if she can then you might want to just take her aside in private...dont tell anyone about it afterwards and just say listen your my friend and i dont want to hurt your feelings and maybe you dont realize this but you have really intense body odor.im not saying your dirty but im just trying to save you embarrassment because so many people are talking about it so i just wanted to tell you as a friend whats going on. please dont get mad at me but im just being truthful.....if she gets mad at least you tried...if your not willing to tell her or risk hurting her feelings then youll have to either live with it or separate...just make sure its not a money issue or health issue first.

OMG tell her! Thats the best thing to do. She might be sensative but how do you think she would feel if the guy she liked told her she smelled bad? Just tell her in private. That you love her to death but she smells.

I know your friend is really sensitive, but the only way to let her really know, is to just tell her. just say "(insert name here) we just wanted to let you know, that you're a great person, but you kind of have bad body oder. And we just wanted to let you know so that way you wouldn't get made fun of, you're our friend and we just don't want people to make fun of you."

hope i helped!
