I like this guy and I have for a really long time, but he has had a girlfriend, he just broke with his girlfriend and asked me to winterball, I was so excited, but now I am just kinda like, yeah he's not that great, I think I just always want what I cant have... what should I do to be more greatful

I would definatly go to the winterball with him because you already said that you would go. Once you are there I would act like friends rather than dates that way he will get the hint that you dont really like him. If you are trying to change your mind about him think of it as a date and try to notice anything good about him (like the smell of his cologne or his new hair cut). That way after the dance you will remember all the good and you can truly decide if you like as a friend or not.
