For school, I have to write a speech. For part of it, I need to know the CONS of passing a bill for mandatory voting for eligible voters in the U.S. for the presidential election. The only one I can think of is that people don't like any of the canidates. Also, I can't say because they are sick, handicapped, mentally ill, or elderly because you have to put exceptions in the bill you make. (I know, my group has to make a bill FOR mandatory voting, but individually I have to make a speech against it.) THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Jess5764 answered Monday January 15 2007, 8:19 pm: as an american you should have the choice on if you want to vote or not
freedom of speech
required voting would be expensive and unrealistic to carry out
would need more than one day to vote/overcrowding of polling places
some people just don't care, and therefore shouldn't have to vote. [ Jess5764's advice column | Ask Jess5764 A Question ]
