tan

Question Posted Sunday January 14 2007, 11:51 pm

im 14/f

my face is REALLY pale.
and im going to las vegas in may.

so im thinking about going tanning a couple times before going to las vegas so that my face will become a natural color, and so that i wont burn really badly in las vegas.

is this a bad idea?

im not really for the tanning bed, i know that they can cause skin cancer, but so can the sun. and im not going to get TAN.

and about how many time would i need to go just to get my fae a natural color?

tanning beds really aren't THAT bad, as long as you don't go too much..if you went like once or twice a week a month before you leave, it should build up a fair base tan. As far as spray on tans or something..they don't work,i have used them and know people that have used them and we have all gotten orange and little bumps on the skin were it was applied. Seriously, tanning beds are so bad!

Hey,

Well, since tan people DO burn, and you're not for the tanning bed (I don't blame you!), just use a spray on tanner! Try these products-they work great!

Okay, I know you might rate me down for this, but tanning beds are horrible for your skin. Yes they cause skin cancer(my mom had to have the entire left side of her nose removed and replaced with other cartilage) but they also cause sun spots and wrinkles. Unless you're planning to laser them off and get facelifts, you'll be stuck with them forever. If you're worried about your face being burned, use a face sunscreen, like Solar Sense Face Sense. its greaseless so you shouldn't break out, and waterproof. I think its like $5, and the container will last you for the whole summer, if you put it on every time you're gonna be in the sun.

I say that you spray tan and use sunscreen.

Tan people can burn, too.

If you're not really for tanning beds, you should ask yourself why you are considering this option. Artificial tans don't really protect you from the sun. What I would recommend is bring strong sunscreen (at least 30 SPF). You could try a sunless tanner (there are good ones out there that don't give you an orange Malibu Barbie look)
Btw, I have seen pale people that come from Las Vegas, so you're not alone! My only other bit of advice is to accept your pale face.
Have fun on your trip, and I hope this helps! ^_^
