Tennis?

Question Posted Saturday January 13 2007, 12:03 pm

I am trying to lose weight. How many calories does tennis burn? I've been thinking about playing, but i have tried many sports that i've hated. What if this turns out the same? Thank you sooooooo much!

i am horrible at ALL sports, including tennis, but i LOVE it! i'm not sure of the exact amount of calories, but i know if burns a lot because you are always moving. i'm not into sports much, but i do play tennis, and it couldn't hurt to try :]

any tye of physical activity burns different amounts of calories depending upon how much you are exercising. if you have a good heart rate going, then its good for you (generally) and you are probobly going to be burning a fair amount of calories.
for the sake of not repeating myself, i suggest you read some advice i have given to others about exercise and wieght loss.

tennis can be a good sport to lose weight if you do it correctly. you need to keep moving and focus on getting to the ball rather than waiting for it to come to you. also, you should do some tennis drills like jogging/running while balancing the ball or bouncing it with your racket, or you can get some friends to throw some balls while you practice moving quickly. however, there are some people who just stand there waiting for the ball, they obviously won't lose weight. make sure you have water at all times also! don't worry about how many calories it burns, but if you see you're sweating like crazy then its working! good luckkk!

burning calories depends on your weight. You can just go and say...oh I"m gonna play tennis and burn 500 calories.

It's all about weight and how active the sport is. Google it and it should tell you about how much an average person burns and go from there.
