i can't hear from one ear!

Question Posted Saturday January 13 2007, 11:45 am

My ear on the right is blocked from me hearing from it. I can probably assume water, wax, and soap is trapped in it. I am not getting any pain from it, because I have been using antibiotic and ear wax removal drops for the past few days, but it's still not helping with me hearing from it!

does anyone have any at-home methods I can try to get rid of this? I have already tried tilting my head for hours, including overnight. So any ideas?

I know I might need to see a Doctor but before doing so I would like to try some new ideas to see if that will work before I consider going to one.

Thanks in advance!

this used to happen to me all the time. Try putting in the wax removal drops, lying on your side with that ear up so they don't spill, and leaving a heating pad over it, with a towel in between. after about a half hour, flip over and let all the liquid drain out, with the heating pad still under the towel. when there isn't ear stuff spilling, take a Q-tip and see if you can get some of it out. if this doesn't work, go to your doctor soon, it could be an ear infection.

I have a brilliant solution thats always worked for me, put a couple of drops of sunflower oil in your ear and then put a ear plug in, leave it in overnight and hope it doesnt come out over the pillow and you should have an unblocked ear in no time

i went to my doctor and got it flushed.. it was my both ears. it like an injection but not like a needle on.. is the one that takes water. they get water and hydrogen paroyde[sp?] and shoot into your ears.. it'll prolly get you a lil bit spinny but its all good.

i had this problem and it is easily solved. although it is uncomfortable, this is what my doctor told me...

as ghetto as this soudns i doubt you have a doctor's utensil so i used a turkey baster. filled up a cup with warm water [NOT HOT!] and about 1/4 of the cup with hydrogen peroxide. fill of the baster, tilt your head to the side of the ear you are doing this too, and start pumping! do this over the sink because the water should be coming back out along with some extra wax build ups. you won't get wax everytime, i didnt get anything until the end when i was doing this.

this works because although you are taking something already for wax build-up, there may be stubborn, hard pieces of wax.

only do this if you use q-tips to clean your ears regularly. I say this because q-tips cause the wax to get pushed back and form these hard pieces of wax, if you haven't used them then that is not the problem and it just won't be comfortable

good luck and im sorry for your illness!

Hey,

Ouch! You might have an ear infection.

A home remedy that always works for me when I get ear infections (which is quite often, mind you), I get a facecloth, wet it, and then put it in the microwave for about 15-17 seconds. [Sounds weird, I know, but it sooths you!]

Hope I helped & Hope you feel better!
