Question Posted Saturday January 13 2007, 11:45 am
My ear on the right is blocked from me hearing from it. I can probably assume water, wax, and soap is trapped in it. I am not getting any pain from it, because I have been using antibiotic and ear wax removal drops for the past few days, but it's still not helping with me hearing from it!
does anyone have any at-home methods I can try to get rid of this? I have already tried tilting my head for hours, including overnight. So any ideas?
I know I might need to see a Doctor but before doing so I would like to try some new ideas to see if that will work before I consider going to one.

as ghetto as this soudns i doubt you have a doctor's utensil so i used a turkey baster. filled up a cup with warm water [NOT HOT!] and about 1/4 of the cup with hydrogen peroxide. fill of the baster, tilt your head to the side of the ear you are doing this too, and start pumping! do this over the sink because the water should be coming back out along with some extra wax build ups. you won't get wax everytime, i didnt get anything until the end when i was doing this.
this works because although you are taking something already for wax build-up, there may be stubborn, hard pieces of wax.
only do this if you use q-tips to clean your ears regularly. I say this because q-tips cause the wax to get pushed back and form these hard pieces of wax, if you haven't used them then that is not the problem and it just won't be comfortable

Ouch! You might have an ear infection.
A home remedy that always works for me when I get ear infections (which is quite often, mind you), I get a facecloth, wet it, and then put it in the microwave for about 15-17 seconds. [Sounds weird, I know, but it sooths you!]
