Abilify medication for schizophrenia and diabetes2

Question Posted Wednesday January 10 2007, 1:25 pm

I am currently taking Abilify 25mg which is a very high dose , and I would like to know about the "risks that I am taking"... Should I check my blood sugar ...? And If so , how often..?
And Is there a vital risk that I might get diabetes 2....?
I would prefer if someone looked into the medication and if you are a health worker or not I appreciate your response.
Thanks for the replys in advance, apology my poor English I am foreign.

I am not a medical professional. So I am sorry for that.

I will tell you that if you ever have questions regarding the medications you take, always call your pharmacist.

Your pharmacist knows everything about what your medication can do to for you, or to you. That is their job to know. Even doctors don't know that much about the medicine they prescribe.

You have some really good questions, so I suggest for the best advice, get professional advice. Call your pharmacy right away.

Any anti-psychotic medicine carries the risk of hyperglycemia. From what I read, abilify has had only a few cases in studies SO FAR.

In most cases the good things it does for you outweighs the bad.

Keep all your doctors appointments. The doctor will
test your blood sugar and make you take a fasting blood glucose test occasionally. If you have any questions at all about your treatment or medications, never hesitate to call your doctors office and ask the nurse. They will help you with any questions you have. :)
