Insomniac?

Question Posted Monday January 8 2007, 2:40 am

I have the hardest time sleeping at night. This has only been affecting me for about this past week. Before then, I had a regular sleeping pattern.

During the week last week, I'd go to sleep around 9:30 PM then wakeup around 1:00 AM Or 2:00 AM and not be able to go back to sleep.

During the weekend, I couldn't go to sleep until around 4:30 AM then I'd wake up around 2:00 PM.
How can I get back on a regular, healthy sleep routine? Please don't suggest Benadryl, I've tried that already and still no luck.

I have the same exact problem. I went to a Psychiatrist and he perscribed me Seroquel. It is a sleeping aid also an anti-hyperactivity depressant. It works and doesnt manke you groggy in the morning after taking it for about a week or so because it has to work in your system first. Maybe you should try it. Also there are over the counter sleeping aids. (Excedrin PM, Tylenol PM) They are supposed to help. Try lowering your caffeine intake during the day. Hope I helped.

I actually would not suggest Benadryl or Nyquil because it's very easy to start relying on them to fall asleep and become addicted. Try going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. Completely cut caffeine out of your diet and excercise more than usual. Before going to bed, try doing some yoga, reading a book or taking a hot bath...anything relaxing.
