Are there any programs that you can download (preferably free) to edit, create, and lighten up videos?

windows comes with windows movie maker in all programs/accessories, and mac comes with imovie

I'm not sure of a specific program, but you might look at www.downloads.com and see if they have a program that would suit you. They have free trials and full programs to download. Usually I find exactly what i need there.
Also, my computer came with a program called "windows movie maker" which allows you to edit videos.
