music/video filesharing

Question Posted Saturday December 30 2006, 9:08 pm

Even though I have set parameters on my filesharing program (Ares Ultra) to state that I have unlimited download speed and upload speed is limited to...well, I've tried different settings from unlimited to quite low and it makes no difference: my downloads are always at a slow speed, but the uploads are always fast as lightning! Help! (Right now I've limited the upload bandwidth to 9.9 but I've seen ridiculous speeds like 35!)

Additional info, added Sunday December 31 2006, 1:29 am:
We are wireless broadband here. I would think that would affect the download rather than the upload. I'd appreciate an answer telling me how to set the bandwidths so that people uploading from my files go slower than I do downloading. Thanks..

It could have something to do with the connection speeds of the people you're downloading from. Even if you have broadband, if you're trying to download something from someone on dial-up, it's still going to be as slow as Christmas. Other than that, if you've tweaked everything under settings, I have no idea what could be causing it. =

Ur upload speed really doesnt depend on you. It all depends on your type of internet. DSL, Cable, Wireless Dial-up etc...
