I= the fashion queen.
I know everything there is head to toe about fashion.
You should probably try working hard at it.
Making your own designs
You will learn from yourself. If you just draw sketches of shirts, pants ..etc you will start to have your own unique fashions.

Every one below me had great ideas, I agree with them too. Sketching designs, was the beginning of me becoming the best at fashion that i possibly could be!!

so i hope i helped you!

Every one who answered before me have the right idea. Buy a lot of fashion magazines. I'd go with high end ones like Vogue and those directed at the middle, like Elle.
Usually magazines are broken down into a few parts. Some of the articles hint at what is in during the season and recommend items according to price or distributors (eg the save vs splurge).
Then there is always the fashion spreads (usually in the last few pages) that model the key looks. There are always a few key looks in the season so the spreads in different magazines may vary.
A lot of the magazines portray celebrities wearing whatever is "in". A lot of them are good sources but you have to be weary of them. Some celebs screw up and their look may be nice for a day but tomorrow, it'll be so yesterday.
If you're searching for classic fashion and it's origins, look up all the houses on www.wikipedia.com and trail them down to what they are today. A lot of modern designers got their start with major designers and branches off to create their own labels.
You can also go on to the Barneys website, search all the brands and look up on news and history reports for them.
Fashion is like a mastery. You can never fully learn everything about it. It changes all the time. I always keep a good eye on whats going on because fashion is important in our world and what you wear can effect your job, your friends, you boyfriend et cetera.

Read fashion magazines and books. Even if you don't have a lot of money, browse designer stores online just to see what's in...and then buy a cheaper version of it.

Read up on the classics first...Dolce and Gabanna, Chanel, Coach. Then start looking at what's in style now.

Read fashion magazines [Vogue, Teen Vogue, Elle], and things like that. There are books at the library about it. Read about top designers out [Versace, Gucci, Guess, Dolce & Gubanna, Louis Vuiton [sp?], Prada]. Stuff like that. And watch shows like America's Next Top Model, or Project Runway. They might be about modeling, but the fashion in it is amazing. :]

Magazines (especially Vogue or Elle) are amazing for learning about fashion. Also, go online and do research on the TOP designers right now. Chanel, Versace, etc. I watch the Style Channel (119) and it is very useful to learn fashion because often they have runway shows. ♥

books and magazines are always good to find out the latest fashion. Also, you can explore what most people wear. For example in Canada, lots of people wear emus!YOu can go to the mall and see what store people most likely like to shop at.

Hope this helped, xox esty

If you want to know about modern fashion, www.fashion.net is a really good website to learn about fashion. But if you want to know about all times and kinds of fashion, you should go to your local library, and check out a couple of books, if you need them longer than the time alotted, then renew your checked out books until you're satisfied.
