Re: When to go You answered my question regaurding of "when to go". Well my relationship is ok. I didnt want to tell him when i started having my period but he didnt really react at all. I want to go to make sure i am healthy and since i get horrible cramps during my period i want to go for birth control because i have done research that said there are birth control pills that help with cramps and a shorter period. I just dont know how to approach the topic of going to the gynocologist. I dont want him to get freaked out or anything like that. I think he thinks i talk about stuff like that with my 2 sisters but i have already talked 2 them and they say that i dont need birth control pills and that i am to young.

It's great to have sisters. In this case, however, I think they're jumping to conclusions. I think you should tell your father that you're having heavy bleeding and cramping and explain to him how it's affecting your life (Do you have to sit out in gym class? Do you get stains on your clothes? Do you have to take Tylenol/Ibuprofen? Do you have to leave school sometimes?). Explain to Dad how miserable this is making you. Additionally, you don't necessarily need to see the GYN doctor. Your family doctor or pediatrician can usually treat these problems as well and will refer you to a GYN if it's appropriate. I think you should reassure your father (if it's true) that you are not sexually active and I would not bring up the issue of birth control, but just say I wanted to speak with the doctor regarding heavy periods, PMS, cramping, or whatever your problem may be. Let the doctor decide whether you need birth control pills or whether there is a more appropriate treatment.
I hope you find the answer. It's hard enough being 13 without having period issues. :(
