Proactive didnt work that great for me either, and when i got off of it I was worse than when I started. Go to a dermatoligist and ask him about Accutane. You might not have serious enough acne to go on it, but at least ask him. I am on it right now, and even though I am suffering through dry skin, my skin is SOOO much better. Actually, I have no zits, just scars. And you are only on it for 5 months and it is worth it. My sister went on it and she hasnt had a pimple since. SaraBean answered Wednesday December 6 2006, 1:35 pm: I know it might sound really weird, but try going on birth control pills. My friend struggled with acne for many many years, all throughout middle school and highschool, she tried everything that ou have so far, including pro active...well, her first year in college she tried birth control (her dermatologist recomended it) and I have never seen her with more beautiful skin. The birth control works with your hormones somehow (not 100% percent sure how cuz I dont use them) and can prevent breakouts. Just a suggestion, but I hope that I helped...let me know if I did and good luck!!! [ SaraBean's advice column | Ask SaraBean A Question ]
Imperialistic answered Wednesday December 6 2006, 12:00 pm: My friend went on Accutane because she had horrible bacne and it worked really well for her. I have to warn you that the pill has really bad side-effects like rashes, flaky skin, photosensitivity et cetera.
Accutane is also disputed because a lot of people who take it, get depressed (431) and about 37 people on Accutane committed suicide (between 1982 and 2001). A few people have won lawsuits claiming that Accutane made them clinically depressed.
You should go talk to your doctor about it and ask him if you're old enough to start taking it. He'll probably have to do a few tests to make sure you can handle it. [ Imperialistic's advice column | Ask Imperialistic A Question ]
