okay, so my whole life i've wnted nothing
but to be a successful hairstylist, and own
my own buisness, like an upscale place.
but as the days get closer to graduating, im
starting to wonder, maybe this isnt cut out for me?
im taking boces next year for cosmetology, and
i just have this feeling im going to be too
scared to cut people's hair. i dont want to mess
up. and i want this more than anything.
i know its still early and i have yet to have
the training, but is it normal to be worried?
I've been told that.. you can't cut people's hair. If you have some kind of project in your class, YOU have to bring in a friend/someone you know and cut their hair.. not some random person on the street.
MYLOVExx answered Monday December 4 2006, 9:22 pm: This feeling is completely normal because you dont know what to expect. In cosmotology school you will be having "fake heads" to practice on so you can perfect your craft. The more practice you get the less scared you will be when you graduate. Fear is totally normal bc hair is such an important aspect, especially for girls but if you have the passion, dedication, and the will to practice over and over again, im sure you'll do wonderfully!

When you are training to cut hair and dye hair they will have fake heads with hair for you to practice on. When you get done learning with them, they will have you cut real peoples hair.
People will know you are a student and won't get mad if it isn't perfect. So don't worry. If its what you really want to do you will do well at it. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
