Death

Question Posted Friday November 24 2006, 6:10 pm

I'd prefer a Christian's (Methodist if possible, but just Christian will do.) opinion since everyone has different beliefs.

I am completely afraid of death. I always think I'm going to die in the night or doing something. And of course, there's what happens after death. I dont just want to "end" but eternal life is overwhelming to me. I mean forever is so long!!!

Everyone has times like this, don't feel bad. Death is scary. Even if you are a devout Christian, death means a huge change, and we're all afraid of change. You're like a new baby, screaming because you've just been born... we all know the baby is about to be wrapped in a warm blanket, fed and taken care of and loved by parents and grandparents and whoever else, but SHE doesn't know that and there's no way for her to understand what's in store, all she knows is that she was perfectly comfortable before all this birth stuff happened.

By the way, I just read a really fantastic book called The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis, about the afterlife. You should check it out. You can read it in an afternoon and I think every Christian should read it, it's got lots of answers.

I am also a Christian and I used to be afraid of death too, but if you're meant to live on you will and if your meant to die, God will take you whether or not your ready, because he has a better plan for you than the one you currently have. Eternal life may be overwhelming but it's a blessing and what else is there. No one lives forever. Death is just a milestone. Whatever happens in ones afterlife is greater than anyone can imagine. Or at least that's what i've always been taught. You should never be scared. If somethings meant to happen it will. God has a plan for everybody.

I used to think the same way from time to time. But now I'm really looking forward to getting my eternal life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking forward to dying on earth but I'm not really dreading it. 1st Corinthians 2:9 says: However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." To me, that means that we can't even imagine how great it will be in heaven. I'm sure that once we get there, we're not gonna want to come back. So don't worry about dying. You'll be fine. Life on earth doesn't go on forever, but after we're done here, we've got a lot to look forward to.

I totally know what you mean, I am, well was/sort of afraid of dying. But that is where faith comes in! To believe in something you cannot see, but you know is there. Dont worry about what is going to happen to you either, God is watching over you. Worrying also shows that you dont have very much faith in God, why worry when God will take care of it? :]
Eternal life, heaven is going to be.. I cant even find words. It will be perfect, and you will be so happy.

i have struggled with the exact same thing is my life. it would scare me knowing that when i die, my soul is going to be in either heaven or hell forever. but the question you have to ask yourself is...do you know exactly where you are going to go when you die? if you know for a fact that when you die, you will be in heaven, it should be a comfort to know that FOREVER, you will be in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. that is the peace that i have...what better way to spent an eternity that with the One who created you...in a place so wonderful that our human minds cannot even grasp it's concept. think of the happiest you've ever been...and time it by an infinity and living it forever...that should be a great comfort! i hope i helped sweetie! =]
