You can take the pregnency test one week prior to the first day of your period, but dont only rely on the test bc my sister has had them tell two different things when she took both of them right after the other. Go to planned parenthood and they will help you out. It's usually free (depending on your economic status).

Uhm. You can become pregnant untill 8 days after intercourse, and it can take another weak for the zygot to attach to your womb, so 2-3 weeks. A test is not always reliable though. If it says you are, it's 100% reliable, but if it says you are not there is a chance you are and the test just failed.
