sounds like you really like this girl and don't worry it happens to the best of us it just a little thing called love. the reson that you can't be her friend is that you don't want to be just her friend you want to be dating her. their is nothing wrong with that just go for it like one day pull her aside and ask her to a movie of something like that. go for it don't worry about the crash and burn if you don't try it then you'll always be second guessing yourself. go for it what the worse that could happen? don't think about the worse thing it's just a saying to just go for it.

As for striking up a conversation? Talk about almost ANYTHING. Let her know that you exist. Do you both have the same teacher that everyones loves to make fun of? Talk about it. Confused about your homework? Ask her for help! (Or play dumb and pretend that you dont get it. I think this is kind of cute, at least a couple times!) Offer to help her, maybe after school in the library? Ask her how her day went, or what's she's doing for the weekend.
Pretty much anything that will get the two of you talking.
