Are Onions Fatial to puppies?

I have A Smal Chihuahua puppy abut 5 lbs named cujo and I have always hered that onions are very bad for chihuahuas but cujo has eaten onions before and nothing happend but this afternoon cujo ate about 2tblspoons of chopped onions I dont Think He has ever eaten th much before.Is trhis Really serious?

Well, the first thing you should definitly do is observe Cujos behavoirs. If something is not right then i would call the vet and explain the situation. If he suggests that you should bring your dog there, i would go immeaditally just in case it is serious

hey, i have four chihuahuas of my own. onions are usually vey dangerous for dogs, especially little ones. one of my dogs, romeo, ate a large amount of onions before. he was very sick and was throwing up and he had diahera. onions are usually all that bad for dogs, unless they have a large amount.

OK I got this from twodog press. Probably better not let Cujo eat onions anymore.

Onions can cause hemolytic anemia, a condition that destroys a dog's red blood cells, according to Dr. Kathy Michel of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. An onion-poisoned dog will become lethargic, develop breathing difficulties and will have pale gums (check around the teeth). Fortunately, the toxins will pass through the dog's system, but until then, he or she may need a blood transfusion. If you cook dog food at home, hold the onions.
