The answer to your question would be to stay away. If your friend is barely talking to you now (for whatever reason) and you don't want to lose your best friend, I wouldn't do anything. Her ex is either a player or he is just desperate to cover up his feelings of missing your friend. Either way, I wouldn't do anything with him. It's really not a good idea.

He's been wanting to 'mess' at you? If that's not a red flag, then go ahead and do a booty call for a few weeks.
However, your bff prolly broke up for a good reason, and its never good to become involved with a friend's ex - so stay away.
