I blame TV. It seems like a good excuse, you can get on TV with being popular but not by being intelligent.

Oh, then you get the popular people who are intelligent - and no one knows what to do with them.

And what about the people who could be popular but choose to be intelligent? Do they have some other motive?

Its the quiet ones you need to be aware of - they're always planning.
