Cutting

Question Posted Sunday October 8 2006, 6:04 pm

I was really upset, so I cut my arm/wrist, about eigh time, in different places. It didn't make me feel any better and I realize that it was a stupid thing to do. I'm happy now and everything. But I just wanted to know - If I didn't rip/break the skin when I cut (which I didn't) is there still a big possibility of scarring?

no you will not have any kinds of scars. the only thing that might happen is that you will have marks that appear to be scars but they will go away in a few weeks most likely if you did not break the skin. and if it did scar it would be very unnoticible. i dont think you have anything to worry about. hope this helped.

Scars are formed when the skin is broken - if you did not break your skin or draw blood, you will not scar.

Cutting is used by some people as a coping mechanism. The next time you are upset, remember writing this question - you have clearly stated that cutting didn't help you feel better.

While you are currently feeling happy, it might help to identify what helps you feel this way. Figuring out ways to help you cope BEFORE you feel bad is always a good way to make sure you're doing things that are actually helpful, intead of a reaction to the moment.

Best of luck.

Never do this again. Cutting your wrist can become into a big habit. But thankfully there is a medicine to treat scares if you want to. I know you have probably heard of this, Mederma? It works pretty good. Well, Good Luck!

Depends on your skin color.

Because I did not break the skin.... and there's scars.

And my skin is not pale.

Just put some scarring cream on it..

edit
and i got a 1, why?

it ACTUALLY does depend on your skin color
if you scar easily or not.

but you really do need some scarring scream.

If you didn't cut yourself deep - didn't rip/break the skin, I'm sure you'll be fine and they'll be no scarring. However, if you want to be on the safe side, just go out and buy some cream that will prevent your cut(s) from scarring.
