I have very bad eczema on my left hand and a little on my right hand. It flares up, I treat it with Demovate Steroid Cream and it goes down after about a week and a half. Three weeks later, just as my skin has healed, it comes back. This has been happening for six months and I need something that will get rid of it.
My doctor is referring me to a Dermatologist but I was wondering if there are any natural or herbal remedies for eczema I could try or anything I could do to prevent it? It feels like my hand is on fire first, then it's SO intensly itchy I can only run ice all over my hand constantly to help it and when it goes, my skin is wrinkled and prune like, scabby where I scratch in my sleep and the skin peels away.
Please help me if you can!

grannysays answered Wednesday October 11 2006, 2:51 am: Hey,
Let me tell you about this...it really, really works and is worth the process, because the cure last for months and months...
You find some black walnuts, still in their green shell, they are about the size of a tennis ball, you boil two or three of them in plain water and make a tea. Let the tea cool and soak your arm or you can take a bath in the tea, not in hot water, luke warm warm..hot water inflames the skin..you will want to soak the arm or take the bath for at least an hour....pat dry and use olive oil as a moistuzizer....this process will clear up your skin for months at the time...and cost only a few dollars..you can find the black walnuts by calling your local farmers market...trust me..it works...and the each time you do it the process last longer....and is milder the next time... LM answered Sunday September 24 2006, 1:14 pm: I used to have TERRIBLE eczema. Going to a dermatologist is a good idea, because they can determine what'd be best to treat it.
In the meantime, I'll personally recommend Eucerin, its the best moisturizer I've used and it makes the itch go away. Also, it's non-greasy and doesn't stink (always a plus). Also, an oatmeal mask may help with the itching (3TBSP ground oatmeal, 2TBSP milk or cream) and ice cold water will help the burning (and will probably be less messy than an ice cube)
NinjaNeer answered Sunday September 24 2006, 12:11 pm: I have eczema in the same places, and I feel your pain! I use Hydrocortisone cream. The best way to heal it is to put on the cream thickly at night, then put on cotton gloves over top and leave them that way while you sleep. It sounds like a pain, but it really helps the lotion to absorb better into your skin.
indeedily_225 answered Sunday September 24 2006, 11:57 am: My little brother has eczema, and he uses Cetaphil lotion as well as a few prescription lotions (One is called Norvartis. I'm not sure about the other) My neighbor suggested Hydrolatum, and he's been trying that as well. I'm not sure if he has the same type of eczema as you do, because he can't exactly speak and tell us what it feels like, but he is always itchy. Hope this helps!
